Birds of Ireland

The body of work represented by this website is a glimpse into the way in which I see the world, be it through wildlife, landscapes, cityscapes, human interaction or how we as human beings utilize the planet for our enjoyment. The photographs of wildlife, including birds, mammals, insects, and others, are captured with an intention not just to fill a page with the usual portraits, but rather one of putting the subject into context. I intend to show how the subject interacts with its surroundings in a way which is, hopefully, oblivious to my presence.
The composition of the photograph is just as important as the subject; it is this philosophy I try to abide to at all times while minimizing disturbance of the subject to allow me to capture its natural behaviour. These images span birds, mammals, insects, and flowers photographed in Ireland, Iceland, Japan, Egypt, and elsewhere. Landscapes speak for themselves and I hope that the environment wherein I find myself when in search of wildlife photographs is translated to the photographs of those landscapes. I think it is just as important to understand the landscape the wildlife inhabits in order to begin to understand the wildlife itself.
On my travels I have always been fascinated by the different styles of architecture found in each city, town, village, and suburb. I hope that the photographs presented here show those styles, ranging from isolated churches in Iceland to the sprawling cities of Japan. For the miscellaneous section, this is for those photographs that cannot be put into a category, or if so, could be put into many. Such subjects include candid street journalism, sporting action, city life and the like.
