White-throated Dipper

White-throated Dipper - Passerines (Woodpeckers to Buntings)
Dippers are members of the genus Cinclus and are named for their bobbing or dipping movements. They are unique among passerines for their ability to dive and swim underwater. There are several subspecies of the White-throated Dipper and Ireland has its own subspecies called the Irish Dipper (obviously!), the young of which are pictured here. Taken on the Dodder River, Co. Dublin, Ireland.
